Reporting a Pothole

Got a pothole on your road? Report it to Wiltshire Council — here's how to do it quickly.

How to report

The fastest way is online via Fix My Street or directly through Wiltshire Council's report a problem tool. You'll need to describe the location as precisely as possible — road name, nearest landmark, or drop a pin.

What information do they need?

Location (road name, town, postcode), size of the pothole (roughly how wide and deep), and whether it poses an immediate risk — such as being on a busy road or near a junction. A photo helps speed things up.

What happens next?

Wiltshire Council prioritises based on safety risk. Dangerous potholes (deep, on fast roads) are typically inspected within 24 hours. Others may take a few weeks. You'll get a reference number to track the report.

Claiming compensation

If your vehicle was damaged by a pothole, you may be able to claim compensation from the council. You'll need to show the pothole had been reported but not fixed. Keep receipts and photographs of the damage.
